Laser, in almost every installed application. A laser light source runs for around 20,000 to 30,000 hours with no consumable to replace, starts instantly, and holds its brightness far better over its life, which usually makes it cheaper to own than a lamp projector even where it costs more to buy. Lamp models still make sense on a tight capital budget or for occasional use, where a replacement lamp every few thousand hours is not a burden. Both are listed here, and the light source is shown in the specification on every product page.

It depends on the size of the picture and how much light is in the room, not on the room's size. Brightness is spread across the whole image, so the same projector looks dimmer on a bigger screen. As a guide on a standard matte white screen: a 100 inch picture needs roughly 750 lumens in a blacked-out room, around 1,900 in a normal lit meeting room, and about 2,800 with daylight from windows. At 150 inches those figures rise to roughly 1,700, 4,200 and 6,200. The room finder at the top of this page does the calculation for your exact size and light level.

Throw distance is the throw ratio multiplied by the image width, not the diagonal. A 1.5:1 lens making a 120 inch 16:9 picture (2.66 m wide) needs about 4 m from the screen, while a 0.5:1 short-throw lens makes the same picture from about 1.3 m. Ultra-short-throw models sit within a few centimetres of the wall. The manufacturer warranty is honoured here in the UK, so if something fails you deal with us rather than an overseas seller in another time zone. Our own UK-based engineers install, commission and support what we sell, and can attend site when a system needs hands on it. Extended warranty and maintenance cover can be added to any order.
