What size screen do I need for my meeting room?
Measure the distance from the screen to the furthest seat and divide by 6 to get the minimum image height for presentation content — a room where the furthest viewer sits 4 m away needs at least a 55-inch display. Divide by 4 instead for detailed work like spreadsheets or interactive touch sessions, or by 8 for passive video. The calculator above does the conversion from height to diagonal for you and shows in-stock displays that fit.
How is the right screen size calculated?
The AV industry uses the 4/6/8 rule: the furthest viewer should sit no more than 4 times the image height away for detailed content, 6 times for presentations, and 8 times for passive video or signage. Note the rule uses the image's height, not its diagonal — a 16:9 display's height is roughly half its diagonal size (49%), so a 75-inch display is about 0.93 m tall and suits presentation viewers up to about 5.6 m away.
How far should you sit from an interactive display?
No more than 4 times the image height for interactive and annotation-heavy content — about 3.7 m for a 75-inch panel. Interactive displays also have a reach constraint viewing distance doesn't capture: whoever is presenting needs to touch the whole working area, which is why interactive panels rarely exceed 98 inches and are mounted lower than passive signage.
What size interactive display does a classroom need?
Most classrooms use a 65 to 86-inch interactive display. Under the 4/6/8 rule a 65-inch panel comfortably serves pupils up to about 4.9 m from the screen for teaching content, and an 86-inch panel up to about 6.4 m. For larger or tiered teaching spaces, an interactive projector or a projector with a larger image is usually the better fit.
