What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files sent from a website's server to your browser, processor memory, or hard drive, where they're stored. They help the site remember your preferences and login details.

Essential cookies

Required for the site to function correctly and to deliver services you've requested. These are placed automatically and rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

Non-essential cookies

Functional cookies (which improve usability) and analytical cookies (which help us understand how visitors use the site) are switched on by default, and you can switch them off at any time. Targeting and advertising cookies (which show relevant ads) are only placed if you accept them.

Analytics: Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors move through the site — which pages they read, where they get stuck — so we can improve it. Clarity sets the cookies _clck and _clsk to recognise a returning visit and group its pages into a single session. We do not connect Clarity to any advertising account, so this data is not used to target ads. You can switch analytics off at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, and Clarity will stop recording and drop these cookies.

Analytics: Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages, searches and products lead to enquiries and orders. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<container id> to recognise a returning visit and group its pages into a single session. Like Clarity it runs by default and stops when you switch analytics off using the Cookie settings link in the footer. Google's advertising features stay switched off unless you accept advertising cookies — until then Google Tag Manager is told, in the same page load that starts it, that it may not use this data for ads or set advertising cookies.

Advertising: Google Ads

If you accept advertising cookies, the Google Ads conversion and remarketing tags in our Google Tag Manager container are allowed to use cookies, so we can tell which of our Google Ads campaigns lead to quote requests, calls, emails and orders. They set the cookies _gcl_au and _gcl_aw to recognise a visit that started from one of our ads. Without your acceptance they measure conversions without cookies and cannot recognise you, and you can withdraw acceptance at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Advertising: Microsoft Advertising

If you accept advertising cookies, we load the Microsoft Advertising Universal Event Tracking tag so we can tell which of our Microsoft Ads (Bing) campaigns lead to quote requests, calls, emails and orders. It sets the cookies _uetsid and _uetvid to recognise a visit that started from one of our ads. It is not loaded unless you accept, and you can withdraw that at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.
