TopAV buying advice

Is the iiyama TF5539AS-B1AG right for your retail space?

For a screen you are building into something, not hanging on a wall.

Shortlist the TF5539AS-B1AG when you are specifying a build and need a large touch surface: a walk-up wayfinding totem, a self-service point in a foyer, an interactive window or a table people gather around. It is an open-frame chassis with edge-to-edge glass, a metal housing and a sealed front face, meant to be integrated rather than delivered as finished furniture. At 1274 x 744.8 x 65.2mm and 39.6kg it is a two-person lift with handles fitted, and the frame or enclosure has to carry that weight.

Reasons to shortlist it

  • Bonded PCAP glass registers 40 simultaneous touch points to an accuracy of +- 2.5mm, from a stylus, a bare finger or a latex-gloved hand, with palm rejection on, so a 1209.6mm wide touch surface can genuinely take several people working on it side by side.
  • Touch is rated to work through up to 6mm of glass, which is the specification that lets the display sit behind a shop window or a protective panel and still respond to a finger on the outside rather than needing an exposed screen.
  • The front face is rated IP65 against dust and water on 4mm AG-coated glass of 7H hardness with a matte finish, and the panel has passed the 60950 ball drop test in a metal housing, which is the combination a build in a public space has to survive.
  • It can be installed landscape, portrait or face-up, so the same display suits an upright totem, a portrait poster position or a table-top recess, and carrying handles plus a cable cover are fitted for the install itself.
  • Android 11 runs on the display with iiSignage2 content management, EShare and FailOver on a four-plus-four core processor with 4GB of memory and 32GB of storage, and a kiosk mode locks it to one application, so an unattended build needs no separate media player.

Check before you choose

  • The panel is rated at 500 cd/m² but the figure a viewer actually sees is 435 cd/m², because the bonded touch glass passes 87% of the light. That is signage brightness, not high-bright, so measure the light falling on the intended position before committing to a sunlit window.
  • There is no OPS slot anywhere in this range. If you need a Windows PC behind the glass, it goes on the rear mini-PC mount, which takes a small-form-factor PC or an Intel NUC, so an estate standardised on OPS modules cannot reuse them here.
  • The IP65 rating covers the front face only. The rear of the chassis, the cable entries and the connections are not sealed, and an enclosure still has to carry away the heat of a 139W typical draw inside an operating range of 0 to 40 degrees C, so a sealed box needs ventilation designed in from the start.

On a phone, point your camera at the wall and see the 55" there at its real size. On a computer, upload a photo of the wall (or scan the QR code to take one with your phone and it will appear here) and drag the display around it to scale.

What to plan before installing the TF5539AS-B1AG

01

Position & glazing

Decide whether people touch the glass directly or through a window or protective panel, and measure the light at that exact position. If it sits behind glazing, confirm the pane is no thicker than the 6mm the touch layer is rated for, because response is specified up to that figure and not beyond it.

02

Housing & mounting

Plan the enclosure around a 1274 x 744.8 x 65.2mm open-frame chassis weighing 39.6kg, with a 30mm bezel on every side and a 1209.6 x 680.4mm viewable area. The mounting pattern is in the specification table below. Allow ventilation for a 139W typical draw, plan the two-person lift and keep the rear connections reachable for service. iiyama lists a 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern.

03

Content & control

Decide whether the content runs on the built-in Android system with iiSignage2 or on an external source over one of the two HDMI 2.0 inputs or DisplayPort, and plan the RJ45 run if the screen will be driven or restarted remotely. Tell us if you want the mounting, the enclosure or the installation quoted alongside the display.

Display price is for the panel. Installation and optional equipment are quoted separately. Purchase-order terms are available to approved education customers.

Build a quote you can compare

Include these details in your project enquiry so the quote covers the room as well as the screen.

  • Number of displays, site postcode and required date.
  • Furthest viewing distance and available wall space.
  • Wall type, fixed mount or adjustable trolley, and cable routes.
  • Laptop model, teaching apps, and any camera or Windows PC needs.

Ask for separate equipment, delivery, installation and licence costs, with a total including VAT. Confirm warranty coverage and any registration requirements before placing the order.

Specifications are iiyama's published figures. Checked on 13 September 2026. The buying advice is our own, from specifying and installing equipment like this in UK classrooms and meeting rooms.

iiyama TF5539AS-B1AG questions answered

Who is the iiyama ProLite TF5539AS-B1AG best suited to?

Consider it for an integration rather than a room: a walk-up wayfinding totem, a self-service or check-in point, an interactive product finder, a shop window or a table screen people gather around. It is an open-frame design built to be enclosed, with a sealed front face, gloved-hand touch and through-glass sensing aimed at public use rather than at a meeting room.

Can the TF5539AS-B1AG be used behind a shop window?

Yes. iiyama rates the touch layer to work through up to 6mm of glass, so a finger on the outside of a window or a protective pane registers on the display behind it. Measure your glazing first, because the through-glass figure is specified up to 6mm and not beyond it, and remember the 435 cd/m² seen through the touch glass has to compete with daylight on that face.

What does the IP65 rating actually cover?

The front face only. That is enough for dust, splashes and daily cleaning on the side the public touches, but the rear of the chassis, the cable entries and the connections are not sealed. If the screen sits outdoors, in a wash-down area or in a dusty workshop, the housing has to provide that protection and move heat at the same time.

Does it work with gloves, and how many people can use it at once?

iiyama lists stylus, finger and latex-gloved hand as supported touch methods with palm rejection on, and the bonded PCAP layer registers 40 simultaneous touch points to an accuracy of +- 2.5mm. Across a 1209.6mm wide viewable area that is a genuinely shared surface, and it matters in a kitchen, a cold store, a clinical area or a workshop where staff will not take gloves off to use a screen.

Does it need a separate media player or PC?

No. Android 11 is built in with 4GB of memory, 32GB of storage, iiSignage2 content management, EShare wireless sharing and FailOver input recovery, and there is a kiosk mode that locks the display to one application. Two HDMI 2.0 inputs and a DisplayPort 1.2 input are there if you would rather drive it from your own player or PC.

Can I fit a Windows PC behind it?

Not as an OPS module, because this range has no OPS slot. iiyama fits a mini-PC mount on the rear instead, sized for a small-form-factor PC or an Intel NUC, so the compute is a separate item you specify, power and service yourself. Tell us what you plan to run and we will quote the PC and its mount alongside the display.

Can it be mounted face-up?

Yes. iiyama lists landscape, portrait and face-up orientation for this model, so it can be recessed into a table or a counter as well as stood upright in a totem. At 39.6kg a face-up frame has to be built for the load, and the glass will collect dust and spilled liquid, so plan the cleaning routine and the drainage around it even with an IP65 front face.

Can it run all day, every day, and be managed remotely?

It is rated for 24/7 non-stop operation with an MTBF figure of 50,000 hours excluding the backlight, and anti image retention is listed. For management it takes RS-232C with get and set commands and an RJ45 LAN connection for control and internet, alongside iiSignage2 for scheduling, a remote control with batteries, an OSD key lock and a remote control lock for locking an unattended unit down.

What connections and audio does it have?

Two HDMI 2.0 inputs and one DisplayPort 1.2 input, all rated to 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz with HDCP 2.2, plus RS-232C and RJ45 for control, two USB 2.0 Type A ports, a mini jack audio output and 2 x 10W speakers built in. Touch data goes back to a connected PC over USB. There is no USB-C input on this model, so a USB-C source needs an adapter.

Should I choose the 55-inch TF5539AS-B1AG or another size in the range?

iiyama lists this model alongside the ProLite TF5039AS-B1AG, TF4339AS-B1AG and TF3239AS-B1AG, and a 65-inch model sits above it. Against the 43-inch, which shares the same 4K resolution, 40-point PCAP, 435 cd/m² through the glass, 1200:1 static contrast and 2 x 10W speakers, this one gives a 1209.6 x 680.4mm viewable area rather than 941.2 x 529.4mm, and costs you a 39.6kg chassis against 22.1kg and a 139W typical draw against 116W. For the step up to 65 inches, use the comparison table below rather than assuming the figures carry over, and size by the aperture in your enclosure and the reading distance.
