Is the ViewSonic IFP86G1 right for your lecture theatre?

Shortlist this ViewBoard for a lecture space, a large training room or a boardroom where presenters arrive with their own laptop and the estate would rather not manage software on the screen itself. At 86 inches the back rows can read ordinary slide text, which is the main reason to step up from the smaller panels in the series. If the room also needs standalone whiteboarding, specify the slot-in PC at the same time.
Reasons to shortlist it
- 86 inches at 4K, so a full slide or a spreadsheet stays readable from the back of a deep room without enlarging the content.
- One USB-C cable carries video, touch and up to 65W of charge from a laptop, so a visiting presenter is connected and charging from a single lead.
- 40 touch points with a Windows source and 20 with an Android source, on an infrared Ultra Fine Touch layer, so a large panel still supports more than one person writing.
- An OPS slot takes a Windows, Linux, EDLA or Chromebox slot-in PC, so the computing half can be replaced on its own refresh cycle while the panel stays on the wall.

Check before you choose
- Audio is two 15W speakers, which is not enough for a room this size. Treat a soundbar or ceiling speakers as part of the specification, not an upgrade.
- An 86-inch panel is heavy enough that wall construction, the mount rating and a multi-person lift all have to be confirmed before it is ordered. A trolley or a lift-assist mount is often the practical answer.
- With no connected device and no slot-in PC there is nothing on screen. If you need the display to whiteboard, cast or run apps standalone, the slot-in PC is not optional and must be quoted with it.

Consider it for a lecture theatre, a large training room or a boardroom where presenters bring their own laptop. It is the right choice when the software and the data should stay on the connected device rather than on the panel, and when the room is deep enough to need 86 inches.
Does the IFP86G1 have Android built in?
No. ViewSonic publishes no embedded operating system for this model, and its specification table has no RAM or storage row either. The operating system comes from a laptop over USB-C or from a slot-in PC in the OPS slot. An EDLA-certified slot-in PC is what adds licensed Google Play access.
How many touch points does the IFP86G1 support?

Is the built-in audio enough for a lecture theatre?
No. ViewSonic lists two 15W speakers on this model, which is a small-room specification on a large-room screen. Quote a soundbar or a ceiling speaker system with it, and add a microphone if the room is used for video calls.
What does mounting an 86-inch panel involve?
Plan it as an installation, not a delivery. Confirm the wall construction and the mount's weight rating, agree the mounting height with the people who will write on it, and arrange enough people to lift it safely. Where the wall cannot take it, a floor-standing trolley is the usual alternative. Ask us to survey the room if you are unsure.
How bright is the IFP86G1?
ViewSonic lists 450 nits for this model, with an anti-glare surface. That suits a normally lit room. A lecture space with large unshaded windows behind the audience will need blinds; check the panel against the actual light levels before committing.
Should I choose the 86-inch or the 55-inch IFPG1?
Choose by viewing distance and the smallest text people need to read. Both are 4K, so the larger panel makes text bigger rather than sharper. Compare the 55-inch IFP55G1 for close-up small-room work, and note that the two use different mounting patterns, so the mount is not interchangeable.
