TopAV buying advice
Is the SMART T086-P right for your meeting room?
For large rooms where the back row still has to read the detail.
Shortlist the T086 Pro for the room where seats run well back: a large boardroom, a training room or a divisible space. The panel is QLED with Full Array Local Dimming, so the backlight dims in zones behind the image rather than across the whole screen at once, and SMART rates it at 850 cd/m² or more. Plan the computing before you order, because this series has no onboard system: the room runs from a laptop on the front USB-C, a SMART AM60 iQ appliance, or a SMART PCM13 OPS PC module in the rear slot. Check the wall width and the mounting height early, since this size needs more of both than the 75-inch model.
Reasons to shortlist it
- The panel is QLED with Full Array Local Dimming, rated by SMART at 850 cd/m² or more with a lifespan of 50,000 hours or more, behind 4 mm fully heat-tempered glass that is bonded and treated for glare and fingerprints.
- At 86 inches the same 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) image is spread over a larger 16:9 panel, so detail that is marginal from the back row of a large room becomes readable without changing resolution.
- HyPr Touch with Advanced IR supports up to 50 touch points, depending on the operating system in use, and the extra width lets a group work along the glass together rather than taking turns.
- One front USB-C carries video, touch and 100W of power delivery to a laptop, with a second USB-C at the rear; three HDMI 2.1 inputs, one front and two rear, cover the rest of the room.
- We are a SMART Platinum partner, so warranty claims and replacements go through us rather than a queue.
Check before you choose
- 86 inches needs the wall to take it. Check wall construction, wall width and mounting height before ordering, and confirm the delivery route into the room; a smaller space is usually better served by the 75-inch model.
- There is no computer and no mount in the box. SMART lists the AM60 iQ appliance and the PCM13 OPS PC modules as separate order codes, and we stock them separately, so budget for computing, mounting and installation alongside the display.
- Simultaneous tool differentiation and Object Awareness need a computer connected and running SMART Product Drivers, and SMART supports tool differentiation only in SMART Notebook and SMART Ink. Confirm with your IT team that the drivers can be deployed on whatever drives the room.
See the 86" on your wall, to scale
On a phone, point your camera at the wall and see the 86" there at its real size. On a computer, upload a photo of the wall (or scan the QR code to take one with your phone and it will appear here) and drag the display around it to scale.
Not sure 86" is the right size for the room? The screen size calculator shows how far a 86" display carries for presentations, touch work and video.
What to plan before installing the T086-P
01
Size & sightlines
Measure the longest viewing distance and the smallest text people need to read, and set the mounting height so that anyone writing can still reach the lower part of the glass.
02
Mount & connections
Check wall construction, mounting height, power and data before delivery, and confirm access into the room. Typical power draw on this size is 128W, and a PC module fitted in the rear OPS slot adds to that. SMART lists a 800 x 600 mm (M8) VESA pattern.
03
Computing & software
Decide what drives the room: a laptop on the front USB-C, a SMART AM60 iQ appliance, or a SMART PCM13 OPS PC module in the rear slot. SMART lists SMART Meeting Pro along with SMART Product Drivers and SMART Ink as included software. Tell us if you need mounting, cabling or installation.
Display price is for the panel. Installation and optional equipment are quoted separately. Purchase-order terms are available to approved education customers.
Build a quote you can compare
Include these details in your project enquiry so the quote covers the room as well as the screen.
- Number of displays, site postcode and required date.
- Furthest viewing distance and available wall space.
- Wall type, fixed mount or adjustable trolley, and cable routes.
- Laptop model, teaching apps, and any camera or Windows PC needs.
Ask for separate equipment, delivery, installation and licence costs, with a total including VAT. Confirm warranty coverage and any registration requirements before placing the order.

SMART T086-P questions answered
Who is the SMART Board T086 Pro best suited to?
Consider it for a large boardroom, a training room or a divisible space where the back row still has to read detail on screen. The QLED panel with local dimming and a rated 850 cd/m² or more suits a room with daylight on the glass. Confirm the wall can take this size, and that the smallest text is readable from the furthest seat.
Does the T086 Pro have a built-in operating system?
No. The T Pro series has no onboard system, which is why SMART lists computing as a separate choice on the specification sheet. You drive it from a laptop on the front USB-C, from a SMART AM60 iQ appliance, or from a SMART PCM13 OPS PC module fitted in the rear slot. We stock the AM60 and the PCM13 modules as separate products, so tell us which route you want quoted.
Can I connect a laptop with a single USB-C cable?
Yes. The front USB-C port carries video, touch data and up to 100W of power delivery, so one cable connects and charges most laptops. Your laptop and cable must support DisplayPort over USB-C, and a laptop that needs more than 100W will still want its own charger. A USB-C cable is supplied in the box.
What does QLED with Full Array Local Dimming give you?
It lets the backlight dim in zones behind the picture rather than across the whole panel at once, which holds dark areas darker while bright areas stay bright. SMART rates this series at 850 cd/m² or more with a panel lifespan of 50,000 hours or more, at 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) in 16:9. Typical power draw on the 86-inch model is 128W.
How many people can use it at once?
SMART lists up to 50 touch points, depending on the operating system in use, through HyPr Touch with Advanced IR. The 86-inch width gives a group the most room of the three sizes to work along the glass together. The usable number in practice depends on the application and the operating system driving the display.
Do the pen and finger work differently without a computer?
Not on their own. SMART lists simultaneous tool differentiation and Object Awareness as requiring a computer connected and running SMART Product Drivers, and states that tool differentiation is supported only in SMART Notebook and SMART Ink. Two pens are supplied with magnetic, frame-mounted holders. The sheet does not list erasers among the included items.
What is in the box?
The display, two pens, a remote control with batteries, a country-specific power cable, a USB A to B cable and a USB-C cable, plus installation instructions. There is no mount, no camera and no computer. Order the mount, the AM60 or PCM13 computing option and any camera alongside the display.
What software comes with it?
SMART lists SMART Meeting Pro along with SMART Product Drivers and SMART Ink as the included software. SMART TeamWorks also appears in the software block on the specification sheet, but the sheet does not make clear whether it is included or optional, so confirm licensing with us before you rely on it.
Which inputs and ports does it have?
Three HDMI 2.1 inputs, one on the front and two at the rear, plus two USB-C ports, one front and one rear, and a rear OPS slot for a PC module. SMART notes that ARC and eARC work only on the HDMI 2 input, so check that if you are feeding audio back to a soundbar or an AV receiver.
Should I choose the 86-inch T086 Pro or the 75-inch T075 Pro?
Choose by viewing distance and the smallest text people need to read, not by room capacity alone. Both share the same QLED panel, 4K resolution, touch system, ports and audio, so the 86-inch model adds size rather than detail or features. Take the 86-inch only if the wall width, the mounting height and the delivery route all allow for it.
