Is this a 4K display?
No, and it is worth being precise about it. The panel is 21:9 at 5120 x 2160, which iiyama describes as 5K UHD and lists at 14.75 megapixels. It is 5120 pixels wide rather than 3840, and 2160 pixels tall, so it adds horizontal room rather than vertical detail compared with a conventional 16:9 panel.
What happens to normal 16:9 content on a 21:9 screen?
A single 16:9 source fills the height and leaves black bars at each side unless the application stretches it, which you would not normally want. The shape earns its keep when two things are on screen at once, or when a conferencing layout or an application is built to use the extra width. Check your main platforms before you commit to the format.
Does it need a PC to work?
No. iiWare 11 runs on the display's own Android 13 system with note-taking, a web browser, a file manager and cloud drive access built in, driven by an A311D2 octa-core processor with Mali G610 graphics, 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
