Description

The e 835 is the workhorse of Sennheiser's evolution range and the microphone most often put in front of a lead or backup vocal on a stage that is already loud. Its cardioid pattern stays tight enough to keep the voice forward in the mix even when the performer moves off axis, which is the difference between a usable vocal and a wash of everything else on the stage.

A gentle presence lift gives natural projection and clarity without making the microphone harsh, and minimal proximity effect keeps the low end under control whether the singer works close in or backs off. A hum compensating coil and internal shock isolation deal with handling noise and electromagnetic interference, and the metal housing is built for the back of a van rather than a shelf.

This is the plain e 835 with no switch. If you need a silent on/off switch on the body, specify the e 835-S instead. Sennheiser's standard warranty is two years.

Key features

Cardioid pattern with high feedback rejection

Keeps the voice forward and stage spill out, which is what makes it usable at high on-stage levels.

Consistent off-axis response

Sound quality holds up as the performer moves around the microphone and changes distance from the capsule.

Handling noise isolation

Internal isolation plus a hum compensating coil keep grip noise and electromagnetic interference out of the signal.

Rugged metal housing

Built for touring use, with a 3-pin XLR output and no switch to fail or be knocked mid-song.
