Description

The MKE 40 is the cardioid member of Sennheiser's clip-on range. Almost every other lavalier is omnidirectional; this one is directional, and that is the entire reason to buy it. In a room where an omnidirectional lapel microphone would ring, the MKE 40's cardioid pattern gives usable gain before feedback.

Sennheiser rates it for excellent speech intelligibility and outstanding bass reproduction, which is an unusual combination in a microphone this size. It suits presenters working close to a loudspeaker system, and theatre and broadcast applications where an omnidirectional capsule picks up too much of the room.

This item is the black version with the evolution wireless connector, for Sennheiser bodypack transmitters. The transmitter is a separate purchase. Sennheiser's standard warranty is two years.
