Consider it where a large screen has to be read in daylight, from across a space and often from an angle: a concourse or atrium wayfinding panel, a queue or departures board, a large menu board, a window display or a corporate reception wall. It is a digital signage display rated for continuous unattended use.

800 cd/m2 is iiyama's high-brightness tier, roughly double the 350 to 500 cd/m2 of ordinary indoor signage, and it is the figure to look for where daylight falls on the screen rather than just filling the room. The caveat on this model is the glossy front: brightness beats washout, but it does not stop the panel mirroring a rooflight or a glazed wall opposite it, so check the reflections at the actual position before committing.

Glossy, at haze 1 percent. That gives a punchy, saturated image and is not a diffusing surface, so a window, a spotlight or a pale wall facing the screen will show up as a reflection, and at this size that reflection is large. If the position has strong reflections and you cannot angle them away, look instead at the 50-inch in this range, which uses a coated matt front, or at iiyama's LH66UHSB range.

Because signage is rarely read straight on. An IPS panel holds colour and contrast as the viewer moves off-axis, which is what you want for a board mounted high in a concourse, a window seen from along the pavement or a screen people approach from the side. The trade is a static contrast figure of 1200:1, lower than a VA panel would give in a dim room.

Yes. iiyama rates the maximum non-stop operating time at 24/7 and quotes a 50,000 hour MTBF figure excluding the backlight, with a metal housing, fanless cooling and a 0 to 40C operating range. That rating, not the picture quality, is the real difference between a signage display and a consumer television left switched on.

No. Android 11 is built in with 4GB of memory, 32GB of storage, iiSignage2 content management, iiControl, iiShare, EShare and FailOver, and 802.11ac WiFi, so a playlist runs on the display itself. Two HDMI 2.0 inputs and a DisplayPort 1.2 input are there if you would rather drive it from a PC or an external player, and FailOver switches to the next available input if the main feed drops.

The chassis is 1679.5 x 958.5 x 55mm and weighs 29kg, 40.5kg in its box, so plan the route, the access and at least two people, onto a bracket rated well above that weight and fixed into structure rather than plasterboard. It is fanless, so it needs air around the housing and a position inside its 0 to 40C operating range, and it draws 107W typical. Its mounting pattern is larger than the one used on the smaller sizes in this range, so check the specification table against your bracket.

Not by much within this range. This 75-inch draws 107W typical against 104W on the 65-inch, so the jump in size costs almost nothing in power. The 86-inch is the real step up at 159W typical. iiyama publishes the same energy efficiency class for all three, and all three are rated for 24/7 operation.

Both are 4K IPS panels at 800 cd/m2 with 1200:1 static contrast, a glossy front, 2 x 10W speakers, Android 11 and a 24/7 rating, and both use the same larger mounting pattern shown in the specification table. The difference is scale and what it costs you: the 86-inch weighs 49kg against 29kg here, 64kg against 40.5kg boxed, and draws 159W typical against 107W. If the wall, the access route and the lift can take it, the 86 reads from further back; if any of those are marginal, this size is the practical one.
