Consider it for a reception, an open foyer, a canteen, a corridor, a waiting area or a retail floor where people read the screen from several metres and often from an angle. At 55 inches with 4K resolution it carries both a headline message for people crossing the space and detail for those who stop in front of it.

For anything scheduled, yes. iiyama's specification lists no integrated software for this model, so nothing on the display holds a playlist, a timetable or a connection to a signage service. Its USB port is a media player port, which covers a fixed landscape loop from a stick, but a managed estate needs a player, a PC or a signage box on one of the three HDMI inputs.

Viewing angle. IPS holds colour and brightness for people looking at the screen from well off to one side, which is what happens in a corridor, along a counter or in an open foyer people cross. The VA models, the 50-inch LH5041UHS-B2AG and the 65-inch LH6541UHS-B1AG, are quoted at 5000:1 static contrast against 1200:1 here, so they give deeper blacks in a dim room but shift more as you move around them.

More than the anti-glare models in the range. iiyama lists this panel at 1% haze, which is a glossy surface, where the AG models use anti-glare coated glass with a matt finish at 25% haze. If there is glazing opposite the screen or hard downlights above it, look at the 50-inch or 65-inch AG models instead; if the light is controlled, the glossy surface is not a problem.

Yes. iiyama rates this model for 24/7 maximum non-stop operating time, with a fanless design, a 50,000 hour MTBF figure and a 0 to 40 degrees C operating range. That duty cycle, not the picture, is the main technical difference between this and a consumer television hung in the same spot.

iiyama does not publish one for this model, which is unusual: the other displays in this range carry a G rating. Our own product row shows a G that came from an earlier import and we cannot stand behind it. If you need that figure for a tender, a lease or a building assessment, ask us and we will get it confirmed from iiyama rather than infer it from a sibling size.

Yes, iiyama lists this model for landscape or portrait orientation. Media playback from the display itself is not supported in pivot, so a vertical screen has to be fed over HDMI from a player or a PC. Check the mounting pattern in the specification table against your bracket, since it is the larger of the two patterns used across this range.

139W typical, 0.5W in standby and 0.3W switched off, which is the highest draw of the models in this group. The metal chassis is 1237.5 x 710 x 55mm and weighs 14.3kg without its box, so it is a two-person lift and the wall or stand has to be rated for it.

It has RS-232C, an RJ45 network connection and an IR input for monitor control, so power, source and volume can be driven from a control processor or over the network rather than by hand. A remote control and cable management are supplied in the box. Confirm network access with your IT team if the screens will be managed from a desk.

Choose by the room, not just the diagonal. This 55-inch is IPS at 1200:1 behind a glossy surface, in a metal housing at 14.3kg, drawing 139W, and it is the better screen for a wide approach angle. The 65-inch is VA at 5000:1 behind anti-glare matt glass, 17.7kg and 115W, and it ships with a wall mount bracket in the box. Both are 4K at 500 cd/m2, rated 24/7, fanless, landscape or portrait, with two 10W speakers and three HDMI inputs. Note the 65-inch has no audio line output, only its speakers.
