Is the ViewSonic CDE9831-1C right for your lecture theatre?
For a lecture theatre or a large hall, where a projector would otherwise be the default.
Shortlist this where the furthest viewer is a long way back and the room is too bright for a projector to hold up. It runs its own content, so a hall with no control room can still show a timetable or a welcome screen. At 98 inches the structural survey, the access route and the installation method come first; the display is the easy part.

Check before you choose
- This is not a touch display. There is no touch layer, no pen and no annotation, so nobody can write on the glass. An interactive panel is the product for that.
- At 98 inches the building decides the installation. Get the wall structure surveyed, specify a fixing into structure or engineered backing, plan a multi-person lift with mechanical help, and check every doorway, lift and turn on the route in.
- Decide whether the built-in Android is enough or you need a player. It runs USB playback and common signage apps; a lecture-capture system, a corporate content system or a Windows application needs the slot-in PC bay filled or an external player, and neither is included.

No. It is a non-touch commercial display. ViewSonic's specification lists no touch layer, no touch points and no pen, so it cannot be written on. An interactive panel is the right product where annotation matters.

Not for straightforward signage. Android 14 with 8GB of RAM and 32GB of storage runs on the display and plays media from USB, failing over to another input if the primary source drops. Lecture capture, a corporate content system or a Windows application needs the slot-in PC bay filled or an external player.
What is the slot-in PC bay for?
It takes a ViewSonic slot-in computer so a Windows or Chrome session runs inside the display rather than in a rack or on a shelf. The bay is empty as supplied and the PC is quoted separately. Fitting one reduces the USB-C port to 15W of charging.
Are the HDMI inputs on the CDE9831-1C the same as on the smaller models?
No. This size has three HDMI 2.0 inputs, where the smaller panels in the series are listed with HDMI 2.1. All of them accept 3840x2160 at 60Hz, so ordinary presentation and signage sources are unaffected, but check the specification if a source depends on an HDMI 2.1 feature.
What should I check before ordering a 98-inch display?
Have the wall structure assessed for the load and specify the fixing accordingly. Then check the access route end to end - doorways, lifts, corners and floor protection - and plan the lift, because a panel this size is not a two-person job. Confirm the mounting height against the sightlines from the back row.
Can I connect a laptop with a single USB-C cable?
Yes. The USB-C input carries video, data and up to 65W of charge over one cable. With a slot-in PC fitted the port supplies 15W instead, so a visiting laptop may then need its own charger.
Should I choose the 98-inch CDE9831-1C or the 86-inch CDE8631-1C?
