Sony ZRD-S12G Crystal LED S Series 1.25 mm Video Wall Cabinet

The ZRD-S12G is a cabinet from Sony's Crystal LED S Series, the range built to put a Sony LED wall into ordinary working rooms rather than flagship spaces. Anti-Reflection Surface Technology is the point of it: in a lobby, boardroom or lecture theatre with the lights on, reflected light is what kills contrast, and the S Series treats the surface so logos, slides and video stay legible instead of greying out.

Each cabinet runs a 1.25 mm pixel pitch across a 480 x 270 pixel array at up to 800 cd/m2, with 22-bit internal processing and contrast quoted above 1,000,000:1 in a dark room. Signal comes in and out over RJ45, and the range is driven by NovaStar MX40 Pro or MX30 controllers rather than a Sony processor, which keeps system cost down.

The cabinet is 45 mm deep and weighs about 5.7 kg, so it hangs on walls that would not take a heavier system, and it is serviced from the front. Power draw is modest for the format - 98 W at maximum with calibration off - and the surface coating gives some protection against accidental contact in a public space.
