The LMP-F230 is Sony's genuine replacement lamp module for Sony VPL-FX30. Sony lists it by part number on the projector's own specification, so this is the lamp the projector was designed and rated around - not a compatible equivalent.

Sony rates the lamp at 4,000 hours in High mode and 5,000 hours in Standard mode on the VPL-FX30 installation projector, which produces 4,200 lumens in High and 3,000 in Standard.

Projector lamps are consumables: brightness falls away gradually over the lamp's life and the projector will warn when replacement is due. Sony recommends cleaning or replacing the air filter at the same time as the lamp, since a blocked filter shortens the life of the one that replaces it. The module ships complete with its housing, so fitting is a case of removing the lamp door, swapping the assembly and resetting the lamp timer.
