Description
The IV021C is a cabinet from The Wall for Virtual Production (IVC), the version of Samsung's MicroLED platform built for LED volumes and in-camera VFX stages. Each unit carries 192 x 432 pixels at 2.1mm pitch in a portrait-format module, and a volume is assembled from a large number of these cabinets on a curved or straight frame.
What separates IVC from standard signage cabinets is the timing. Video rate is 384 Hz and the refresh rate is 12288 Hz — roughly three times the figure on Samsung's signage MicroLED — which is what keeps a camera shutter from picking up scan lines when it is genlocked to the wall. Brightness is 1500 nit so the wall can also act as a practical light source on set.
An IVC stage is a systems project: cabinets, S-Box processing, genlock and camera-tracking integration, structure and calibration all have to be specified together.
