An 86-inch 4K UHD signage display built around an 800 cd/m2 IPS panel in a metal housing, rated for 24/7 unattended operation, with two HDMI 2.0 inputs, DisplayPort, RS-232C and LAN control, and Android 11 with iiSignage2 running on board so no separate media player is needed.

TopAV buying advice

Is the iiyama LH8665UHSB-B1 right for your reception?

The largest size in the range, for a bright space read from a distance.

Shortlist the LH8665UHSB-B1 for an atrium or concourse screen, a large departures or queue board, a showroom feature wall or a glazed frontage where the audience is well back and spread across a wide arc. It is a digital signage display, not an interactive board. The combination that defines it is 800 cd/m2 of brightness on an IPS panel in a metal housing: the brightness handles daylight falling on the screen, and the IPS panel keeps colour and contrast honest off-axis, which matters most on the size people are least likely to stand square to. At 49kg it is a planned install with proper lifting and access.

Reasons to shortlist it

  • The panel is rated at 800 cd/m2, which is the high-brightness tier rather than the 350 to 500 cd/m2 of ordinary indoor signage. On an 86-inch surface that output is what keeps a daylit atrium or a glazed frontage legible instead of washed out.
  • It uses an IPS panel, so colour and contrast stay consistent as the viewer moves off-axis. A screen this size is read by people spread across a wide arc and walking past it, so off-axis behaviour matters more than the headline contrast figure of 1200:1.
  • It is built for unattended duty: a metal housing, a 24/7 maximum non-stop rating, fanless cooling, a 0 to 40C operating range and a 50,000 hour MTBF figure excluding the backlight. A consumer television of this size carries none of those ratings.
  • Android 11 runs on the display with iiSignage2 content management, iiControl, iiShare, EShare and FailOver on 4GB of memory and 32GB of storage, with 802.11ac WiFi built in, so a schedule plays from the screen itself and FailOver switches to the next available source if a feed drops. On a screen mounted where nobody can reach it, remote control and monitoring over RS-232C or the RJ45 LAN port are the point.
  • The input set is installation-oriented and unchanged from the smaller sizes: two HDMI 2.0 inputs and a DisplayPort 1.2 input, both to 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz, so an existing player, matrix or control system carries over if you are adding this size to an estate of the smaller ones.

Check before you choose

  • The front is glossy, at haze 1 percent, not a matt or diffusing surface. At 800 cd/m2 it fights daylight by sheer output, but it will mirror a window, a rooflight or a bright wall opposite it, and on an 86-inch panel that reflection is very large. Look at what is behind the viewer, not only at the light falling on the screen. Where reflections are the bigger problem, iiyama's other 800 cd/m2 signage range, the LH66UHSB, uses a coated matt front instead.
  • This is a 49kg chassis, 64kg boxed, 1927 x 1098.5 x 57mm. It needs a rated bracket fixed into structure, an access route that will take it, and enough people or lifting equipment to place it safely. Survey the position before ordering, and allow for the fact that a screen this size is awkward to take down again for service.
  • iiyama publishes no image retention protection specification for this range, so do not assume one is present. If the content is a fixed logo, a static departure board layout or an unchanging price list on screen all day, design the artwork so elements move or refresh, and talk to us before committing. The 2 x 10W speakers are also sized for announcements close to the screen rather than for an atrium.

What to plan before installing the LH8665UHSB-B1

01

Position & light

Measure the daylight falling on the intended position, then stand where the audience will stand and look at what is reflected back. The 800 cd/m2 output handles the first problem; the glossy front means the second one has to be designed out, usually by angling the screen away from a window or a rooflight. Check the sightline from the furthest reading position and from the widest angle anyone will use.

02

Mounting & access

The chassis is 1927 x 1098.5 x 57mm and weighs 49kg, 64kg boxed. Survey the delivery route, the lift and the working height, specify a bracket rated well above that weight fixed into structure, and agree who is doing the install. The mounting pattern is in the specification table. It mounts landscape or portrait, draws 159W typical, and is fanless, so leave air around the housing and keep it inside its 0 to 40C operating range. iiyama lists a 600 x 400 mm VESA pattern.

03

Content & control

Decide whether the schedule runs on the built-in Android 11 system with iiSignage2 or on an external player over HDMI or DisplayPort, and agree with your IT team whether the display sits on WiFi or on the wired LAN port. RS-232C and the LAN port both give remote control and monitoring through iiControl, which is what keeps a high-mounted screen serviceable from a desk. Tell us if you want the bracket, the cabling or the installation quoted alongside the display.

Display price is for the panel. Installation and optional equipment are quoted separately. Purchase-order terms are available to approved education customers.

Build a quote you can compare

Include these details in your project enquiry so the quote covers the room as well as the screen.

  • Number of displays, site postcode and required date.
  • Furthest viewing distance and available wall space.
  • Wall type, fixed mount or adjustable trolley, and cable routes.
  • Laptop model, teaching apps, and any camera or Windows PC needs.

Ask for separate equipment, delivery, installation and licence costs, with a total including VAT. Confirm warranty coverage and any registration requirements before placing the order.

iiyama LH8665UHSB-B1 questions answered

Who is the iiyama ProLite LH8665UHSB-B1 best suited to?

Consider it for an atrium or concourse screen, a large departures or queue board, a showroom feature wall, a canteen or a glazed frontage: places where the audience is well back, spread across a wide arc, and the space is bright. It is a digital signage display rated for continuous unattended use.

Is 800 cd/m2 bright enough for a glazed atrium?

800 cd/m2 is iiyama's high-brightness tier, roughly double the 350 to 500 cd/m2 of ordinary indoor signage, and it is the figure to look for where daylight falls on the screen rather than just filling the room. The caveat on this model is the glossy front: brightness beats washout, but it does not stop the panel mirroring a rooflight or a glazed wall opposite it, so check the reflections at the actual position before committing.

Does it have a matt or a glossy front?

Glossy, at haze 1 percent. That gives a punchy, saturated image and is not a diffusing surface, so a window, a spotlight or a pale wall facing the screen shows up as a reflection, and on an 86-inch panel it is a big one. If the position has strong reflections and you cannot angle them away, look instead at the 50-inch in this range, which uses a coated matt front, or at iiyama's LH66UHSB range.

Why does the IPS panel matter on a screen this size?

Because almost nobody stands square to an 86-inch display. An IPS panel holds colour and contrast as the viewer moves off-axis, so the people at the edges of a concourse see the same content as the person standing in front of it. The trade is a static contrast figure of 1200:1, lower than a VA panel would give in a dim room.

Can it really run 24 hours a day?

Yes. iiyama rates the maximum non-stop operating time at 24/7 and quotes a 50,000 hour MTBF figure excluding the backlight, with a metal housing, fanless cooling and a 0 to 40C operating range. That rating, not the picture quality, is the real difference between a signage display and a consumer television of the same size left switched on.

What does installing one actually involve?

The chassis is 1927 x 1098.5 x 57mm and weighs 49kg, 64kg in its box. That means a surveyed delivery route, a bracket rated well above the weight and fixed into structure, a safe working height and enough people or lifting equipment to place it. It is fanless, so it needs air around the housing and a position inside its 0 to 40C operating range, and it draws 159W typical. Ask us to quote the mounting and the installation if that is easier than arranging it yourself.

Does it need a separate media player?

No. Android 11 is built in with 4GB of memory, 32GB of storage, iiSignage2 content management, iiControl, iiShare, EShare and FailOver, and 802.11ac WiFi, so a playlist runs on the display itself. Two HDMI 2.0 inputs and a DisplayPort 1.2 input are there if you would rather drive it from a PC or an external player, and FailOver switches to the next available input if the main feed drops.

Can it be mounted in portrait?

Yes. iiyama lists landscape and portrait orientation for this model. In portrait an 86-inch panel is close to two metres tall, so check the ceiling height, the bracket rating and the sightline from the floor before you commit, and plan the content for that shape from the start.

Should I choose the 86-inch LH8665UHSB-B1 or the 75-inch LH7565UHSB-B1?

Both are 4K IPS panels at 800 cd/m2 with 1200:1 static contrast, a glossy front, 2 x 10W speakers, Android 11 and a 24/7 rating, and both share the same larger mounting pattern shown in the specification table. The question is what the building will take. This 86-inch weighs 49kg against 29kg, 64kg against 40.5kg boxed, and draws 159W typical against 107W. Choose it when the reading distance genuinely needs the extra size; choose the 75-inch when access, structure or budget are tight.
