TopAV buying advice

Is the iiyama LH4341UHS-B2 right for your reception?

For a bright indoor position where people read the screen from close up.

Shortlist the LH4341UHS-B2 where a 43-inch screen carries detailed content that people stand near: a menu board, a price list, a departure or appointment board, a product panel in a retail aisle. Four times the pixels of a Full HD panel of the same size is what makes small type hold together at that distance, and 500 cd/m2 copes with a well-lit shop floor rather than a dim back office. It mounts landscape or portrait, weighs 8.9kg and is rated to run continuously. Nothing runs on the display itself, so plan the source.

Reasons to shortlist it

  • 3840 x 2160 on a 43-inch panel, fed by three HDMI 2.0 inputs each rated to 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz, so a full menu board or a dense timetable stays legible at the distance people actually stand from a screen this size.
  • 500 cd/m2 of brightness against the 350 cd/m2 of the Full HD models in the range, which is the difference between a screen that works on a lit retail floor or under strong downlights and one that only works in a softer indoor space.
  • Rated for 24/7 non-stop operation, fanless, with a 50,000 hour MTBF figure and a 0 to 40 degrees C operating range, so it can be left running unattended without a fan drawing dust through the chassis.
  • A metal housing on an 8.9kg chassis measuring 968 x 557.5 x 54mm, listed for landscape or portrait mounting, which is a sturdier build than the plastic-housed models in the range for a public position that gets knocked.
  • Its USB 2.0 port is a media player port, and RS-232C, RJ45 network and IR control inputs are all fitted, with two 10W speakers and an RCA line output, so a simple loop can run from a stick while the screen is still switched and powered remotely.

Check before you choose

  • The panel is listed at 1% haze, which is a glossy finish rather than an anti-glare one. It will mirror windows, light fittings and passers-by. If the screen faces glazing or sits under hard downlights, the matt anti-glare models in the range, the 50-inch LH5041UHS-B2AG and the 65-inch LH6541UHS-B1AG, are the better choice.
  • Media playback is not supported in pivot. A portrait install cannot use the display's own player and has to be fed over HDMI from a signage player, a PC or a switcher, so budget that hardware in if the screen is going up vertically.
  • There is no operating system on the display, so nothing on it holds a schedule, stores a playlist or connects to a signage service. It also draws 107W typical against 53W for the Full HD 43-inch LE4341S-B2, so across a large estate the 4K panel costs noticeably more to run.

What to plan before installing the LH4341UHS-B2

01

Position & light

Measure the light falling on the position and look for what the glass will reflect. This is a glossy 1% haze panel at 500 cd/m2: strong for an indoor retail floor, wrong for a window or a wall opposite a large window. Check the reading distance against the smallest type in your content while you are there.

02

Mount & connections

Plan for a 968 x 557.5 x 54mm metal chassis weighing 8.9kg without its box; the mounting pattern is in the specification table. Decide landscape or portrait, since it changes whether the display can play its own media, and run an RJ45 cable if the screen will be controlled over the network. iiyama lists a 200 x 200 mm VESA pattern.

03

Content & source

Decide what generates the content: the display's own USB media player for a fixed landscape loop, or a signage player, a PC or a switcher over HDMI for anything scheduled or managed centrally. Cable management is in the box with a remote control. Tell us if you want the player, the bracket or the installation quoted with the screen.

Display price is for the panel. Installation and optional equipment are quoted separately. Purchase-order terms are available to approved education customers.

Build a quote you can compare

Include these details in your project enquiry so the quote covers the room as well as the screen.

  • Number of displays, site postcode and required date.
  • Furthest viewing distance and available wall space.
  • Wall type, fixed mount or adjustable trolley, and cable routes.
  • Laptop model, teaching apps, and any camera or Windows PC needs.

Ask for separate equipment, delivery, installation and licence costs, with a total including VAT. Confirm warranty coverage and any registration requirements before placing the order.

iiyama LH4341UHS-B2 questions answered

Who is the iiyama ProLite LH4341UHS-B2 best suited to?

Consider it for a menu board, a price panel, a departure or appointment board, a retail aisle display or a reception screen in a bright space, where people are close enough to read detail. The 4K panel earns its place at short viewing distances; at long ones a Full HD screen of the same size would look the same and cost less to run.

Does the LH4341UHS-B2 need a media player or a PC?

For anything scheduled, yes. iiyama's specification lists no integrated software for this model, so nothing on the display holds a playlist, a timetable or a connection to a signage service. Its USB port is a media player port, which covers a fixed landscape loop from a stick, but a managed estate needs a player, a PC or a signage box on one of the three HDMI inputs.

Will it reflect the room?

More than the anti-glare models in the range will. iiyama lists this panel at 1% haze, which is a glossy surface, where the AG models use anti-glare coated glass with a matt finish at 25% haze. Glossy panels give slightly punchier colour and much stronger reflections. If the screen will face a window or sit under hard downlights, look at the 50-inch LH5041UHS-B2AG or the 65-inch LH6541UHS-B1AG instead.

Can it be mounted in portrait?

Yes, iiyama lists this model for landscape or portrait orientation. The catch is that media playback is not supported in pivot, so a vertical screen has to be driven over HDMI. Decide the orientation before you specify the source, not after.

Can it run all day, every day?

Yes. iiyama rates this model for 24/7 maximum non-stop operating time, with a fanless design, a 50,000 hour MTBF figure and a 0 to 40 degrees C operating range. That is the specification that separates it from a consumer television, which is neither built nor covered for continuous commercial use.

Where can a 500 cd/m2 screen go?

Anywhere indoors that is well lit, including a retail floor under bright ceiling lighting or a foyer with plenty of daylight in the room. What it will not do is sit in a shop window or a glazed frontage with sun falling on the glass; that is the job of a high-brightness display at around 800 cd/m2. Measure the light at the actual position if the answer is not obvious.

How is the display controlled remotely?

It has RS-232C, an RJ45 network connection and an IR input for monitor control, so power, source and volume can be driven from a control processor or over the network rather than by hand. A remote control is supplied for local use. Confirm network access with your IT team if the screens will be managed from a desk.

How much power does it use and how heavy is it?

107W typical, 0.5W in standby and 0.3W switched off. The metal chassis is 968 x 557.5 x 54mm and weighs 8.9kg without its box, so it is a straightforward lift for two people onto a bracket. For comparison, the Full HD 43-inch LE4341S-B2 draws 53W and weighs 8.4kg.

Does it have speakers and an audio output?

Yes to both. Two 10W speakers are built in, and there is an RCA left and right line output for feeding an amplifier or a ceiling system. The built-in pair is fine for a short announcement near the screen but not for filling an open space with sound.

Should I choose the 43-inch LH4341UHS-B2 or the 50-inch LH5041UHS-B2AG?

Size is only part of it. Both are 4K at 500 cd/m2, rated 24/7, fanless and listed for landscape or portrait, with two 10W speakers. The 50-inch uses a VA panel rated at 5000:1 static contrast behind anti-glare matt glass, so blacks hold better in a dim foyer and reflections are diffused, at 11.1kg and 115W. This 43-inch uses an IPS panel at 1200:1 behind a glossy 1% haze surface, in a metal housing at 8.9kg and 107W. Choose the 50-inch for a reflective or dimly lit position and a longer sightline; choose this one where the space is smaller, the light is controlled and the sturdier housing matters.
