Description

The MW809STH is BenQ's short throw education projector for interactive whiteboard rooms. A 0.49:1 throw ratio puts a 70 to 120 inch image on the board from a short-arm wall mount, which keeps the teacher out of the beam and off the glare.

It produces 3,600 ANSI lumens at native WXGA (1280 x 800) with a 20,000:1 contrast ratio from a DLP engine, so text and spreadsheets stay readable with classroom lights on. BenQ's SmartEco lamp management extends light source life to 10,000 hours, and LampSave mode to 15,000 hours.

Interactivity is an option rather than a fitted feature: the PointWrite PW02 pen module and FingerTouch PT12 kit attach to the projector and turn the board surface into a touch surface. Connectivity is deliberately broad for an existing estate — two HDMI inputs, two D-sub inputs and a D-sub output, two audio inputs, a 10 W speaker, USB Type-A and Mini-B, and RS-232. The chassis is 296 x 239 x 120 mm and 2.6 kg.

Key features

MW809STH Projector

Key Features • Advanced Dustproof Solution with Anti-dust Accumulation Components • SmartEco Power Saving Technology • 0.49 Short Throw Ratio • Designed for Education & IWB • Blu-ray Full HD 3D support • PointWrite Interactive Solution Compatible

Anti-Dust Accumulation Sensor Resists Dust Buildup

Incorporating color wheel sensors with an ingenious anti-dust accumulation feature MW809ST prolongs optimal performance by rejecting dust which can accumulate on traditional sensors to block the IR signal and cause flickering abnormal colors or even shutdown.

Unobstructed Instruction Without Space Constraints

Offering a big screen in short distance with a 0.49 short-throw ratio MW809ST eliminates distracting shadows and glare for students and teachers to engage and collaborate freely in front of the board.

Uncompromised High Brightness

MW809ST produces 3000 high ANSI lumen brightness and resolution for perfect projection performance with crisp images and sharp text even in bright lecture room. High brightness provides clear content under high ambient lighting allowing lights to be kept on during classes for note taking and interactive collaboration.

Bigger Images

BenQ education projectors offer a range of resolutions and projected image sizes to meet diverse classroom needs. Featuring crisp image quality up to 120 inches our ultra-short throw education projectors deliver increased classroom versatility at reduced costs.

Long Lasting Picture Quality

With sealed design that protects the DLP chip from dust-induced image degradation and the industrial-grade durability of DLP projection technology BenQ education projectors are capable of maintaining long-lasting picture quality by eliminating color decay. Unlike non-DLP projectors BenQ education projectors deliver premium picture quality equivalent to the result from brand new projectors after lamp replacement.

High DLP Pixel Fill Factor for Superb Viewing Experience

BenQ DLP projectors feature class-leading high fill factor minimizing black borders around each pixel to eliminate the dreaded “screen door effect” commonly observed in non-DLP projectors. BenQ education projectors produce superior definition and clarity in small-size text and fine details for beautifully rendered images instead of pixelated graphics.

Planning from a real wall? Use the projector screen size calculator to upload a photo, preview the image to scale and find projectors that fit within your maximum available space. Replacing an existing projector? The projector replacement calculator checks whether this lens covers the ratio your current mount needs.

Distances are lens-to-screen, calculated from the manufacturer's stated throw ratio; allow for lens shift and mounting hardware. Always confirm against the manufacturer's installation guide before fixing mounts.

Frequently asked questions

How bright is the MW809STH and where is it best used?

How close to the screen can the MW809STH be installed?

Very close — it has a short 0.49 throw ratio. Throw distance is roughly the throw ratio multiplied by the image width, so for a 100-inch 16:10 image (about 2.15m wide) that works out to only around 1.05m from the screen, ideal for tight classroom spaces.

How long does the lamp last on the MW809STH?

The lamp is rated for 5000 hours.

What resolution and contrast does the MW809STH offer?

It has a native WXGA resolution of 1280 x 800 (16:10 aspect ratio) with a 20000:1 contrast ratio, using DLP projection technology.

What's included in the box with the MW809STH?

The MW809STH ships with a remote control and battery, power cord, quick start guide, user manual CD and warranty card. It has one HDMI port and weighs 2.6kg.
