Description

InstaShow WDC10C is BenQ's USB-C wireless presentation kit, and its defining characteristic is that there is no software. A button plugs into a laptop's USB-C port using DisplayPort Alt Mode, the user presses it, and the picture appears on the room display. Nothing is installed, nothing needs admin rights, and the laptop's operating system is irrelevant.

The kit supplies a host receiver, two buttons and a cradle. The host outputs HDMI 1.4 with HDCP at up to 1080p 60Hz, takes an RJ45 connection for network management, and runs on 5V DC. Two 2dBi MIMO antennas handle the 5GHz link, rated AC1200 with up to 867Mbps, and up to 16 devices can be paired to a single host.

Security is the reason this class of device gets specified in enterprise and public-sector rooms: the link is WPA2 protected with AES-128 encryption and runs point to point between button and host, so presentation traffic never touches the corporate network. The host is 110 x 110 x 27mm without antennas and weighs 150g.
