A 50-inch 4K commercial display rated for 24/7 operation, with 500 nits of brightness and Android 14 on 4GB of RAM, for signage that runs without a media player.

TopAV buying advice

Is the ViewSonic CDE5014-2C right for your reception?

For a reception screen that needs a little more presence than a 43-inch panel.

Shortlist this for a reception, waiting room, retail wall or staff noticeboard where people read the screen from a few metres away. It plays a scheduled loop from USB on its own, with no player to power or patch. This is the signage-first line: if the room also has to host presentations from a laptop over one cable, look at the smart series instead.

Reasons to shortlist it

  • 500 nits of brightness with an anti-glare coating, so the screen stays readable in a daylit reception rather than only after dark.
  • Rated for 24/7 operation, so a loop can run continuously instead of the screen being switched off and restarted each morning.
  • Android 14 with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage on board, and USB media playback with automatic failover to the next input, so content keeps running when a source drops.
  • Three HDMI 2.1 inputs plus a USB-C input with 15W of charging, so a player and a visiting laptop can both stay connected; the two 10W speakers handle background audio rather than presentation sound.
  • 50 inches is a middle size that reads from a few metres without dominating a reception wall, and it carries the same 3840x2160 pixels as the larger panels, so the gain over 43 inches is area rather than detail.

Check before you choose

  • This is not a touch display. There is no touch layer, no pen and no annotation. An interactive panel is the product if people need to tap or write on the screen.
  • The USB-C port carries 15W, not 65W. A laptop will present but will not charge from the screen, so plan for its own power supply.
  • Decide whether the built-in Android is enough or you need an external player. USB playback and common signage apps run on the display, but a corporate content system or a Windows application needs a separate player, and this model has no slot-in PC bay.

See the 50" on your wall, to scale

On a phone, point your camera at the wall and see the 50" there at its real size. On a computer, upload a photo of the wall (or scan the QR code to take one with your phone and it will appear here) and drag the display around it to scale.

Not sure 50" is the right size for the room? The screen size calculator shows how far a 50" display carries for presentations, touch work and video.

What to plan before installing the CDE5014-2C

01

Size and sightlines

Measure the usual reading distance and the smallest text that must be legible, and decide whether the screen hangs in landscape or portrait.

02

Mount and power

Check the wall construction and mounting height, and plan a power socket and a network drop behind the screen rather than beside it. ViewSonic lists a 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern.

03

Content and installation

Decide what supplies the content, on USB or over the network, and tell us if you need mounting, cabling or a player quoted with it.

Display price is for the panel. Installation and optional equipment are quoted separately. Purchase-order terms are available to approved education customers.

Build a quote you can compare

Include these details in your project enquiry so the quote covers the room as well as the screen.

  • Number of displays, site postcode and required date.
  • Furthest viewing distance and available wall space.
  • Wall type, fixed mount or adjustable trolley, and cable routes.
  • Laptop model, teaching apps, and any camera or Windows PC needs.

Ask for separate equipment, delivery, installation and licence costs, with a total including VAT. Confirm warranty coverage and any registration requirements before placing the order.

What else the CDE5014-2C needs

The price above is for the display on its own. A wall mount or trolley is a separate purchase, and installation is quoted per site. Add what you need here and it joins the same basket.

ViewSonic CDE5014-2C questions answered

Is the ViewSonic CDE5014-2C a touch screen?

No. It is a non-touch commercial display. ViewSonic's specification lists no touch layer, no touch points and no pen, so it cannot be tapped or annotated. An interactive panel is the right product for that.

Who is the ViewSonic CDE5014-2C best suited to?

Consider it for a reception, waiting room, retail wall or staff noticeboard read from a few metres. It is signage-first; a meeting room that needs one-cable laptop presenting and room audio is better served by the smart CDE31 series.

Can it be left switched on continuously?

Yes. ViewSonic rates it for 24/7 operation, so it is designed to run unattended overnight and at weekends. Agree the content schedule and the power arrangement at installation.

Does it need a separate media player or PC?

Not for straightforward signage. Android 14 with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage runs on the display, and it plays video, audio and images from USB with automatic failover to the next available input. A corporate content-management system or a Windows application needs an external player, since there is no slot-in PC bay.

How much power does the USB-C port supply?

15W. It carries DisplayPort video, USB data and Ethernet sharing over one cable, but 15W will not charge a laptop while it presents, so bring the laptop's charger.

How many HDMI inputs does the CDE5014-2C have?

Three HDMI 2.1 inputs, with ARC on the third, plus the USB-C input. A fixed player and a guest source can stay connected at once without swapping cables.

Can it be mounted in portrait?

Yes. ViewSonic lists landscape and portrait, so the same model suits a portrait wayfinding screen or a landscape noticeboard. Decide before installation, because the mount and cable route differ.

Are the built-in speakers enough?

Two 10W speakers are built in, which covers background audio on a signage loop in a quiet space. For presentation sound or a busy reception, quote external speakers; a 3.5mm output and S/PDIF are provided.

Should I choose the 50-inch CDE5014-2C or the 55-inch CDE5514-2C?

There is little between them apart from size. ViewSonic lists both at 3840x2160, 500 nits, 24/7 operation, 4GB of RAM, two 10W speakers and one 15W USB-C input, so choose on the wall space you have and the reading distance; the 55-inch panel adds area, not detail.

Is the advertised price a complete installed package?

No. The price is for the display. Ask for an itemised quote covering the mount, fixings, cabling, any player and installation, and compare the total including VAT and delivery.
