Description

The MAS-A100 is Sony's ceiling beamforming microphone, designed to take the table microphones out of a meeting room or lecture space entirely. An array of elements steers pickup toward whoever is speaking, with a selectable narrow, standard or wide capture range so the same unit can serve a small huddle room or a wide classroom.

The signal processing is where most of the work happens. On-board noise reduction handles up to 24 dB of unwanted room noise and feedback reduction up to 32 dB, alongside automatic gain control, a noise gate, equalisation and automatic calibration with a test signal. All of it is configurable through a browser and exposed through an API for control system integration.

Output is two channels of Dante at 48 kHz / 24-bit, with AES67 compatibility, so it feeds a DSP or a networked codec directly over the same Cat5e cable that powers it. The unit is about 240 mm across and 50 mm deep, weighs 1 kg on its own or 1.3 kg with the supplied ceiling bracket, and draws up to 13 W over PoE Class 0.
