Sennheiser EW-DX SK 3-PIN (Y1-3) Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter

The Sennheiser EW-DX SK 3-PIN is the bodypack half of an Evolution Wireless Digital (EW-DX) radio microphone system. It takes a Sennheiser lavalier or headset microphone on its 3-pin locking connector and sends the signal to an EW-DX receiver over UHF, using Sennheiser's own SePAC codec for a wireless latency of 1.9 ms. This is a transmitter on its own, not a complete system: you also need a matching EW-DX receiver, a microphone and a power source before it will work.

Because the input stage covers a 134 dB dynamic range there is no gain to set on the belt pack, which removes the most common cause of a ruined take at a live event. The persistent E-Ink display keeps showing the channel, name and battery state even with the cells removed, the mute switch can be programmed for RF mute, AF mute or disabled, and a switchable low cut, digital audio trim and test tone generator are all reachable from the buttons on the unit. It runs on two AA cells or on the optional BA 70 lithium-ion pack for up to 12 hours, and the external charging contacts let it sit in a CHG 70N or L 70 USB charger.

This item is the Y1-3 band, 1785.200 - 1799.800 MHz. Evolution Wireless Digital transmitters are sold per frequency band and the band is fixed in the hardware, so it cannot be changed later. Check that the band suits your UK licensing position before you order: Sennheiser states that worldwide use is subject to local RF regulations, and in the UK that means holding the appropriate Ofcom PMSE licence for the range you intend to use (or working only within a licence-exempt range). It also has to match the band of the EW-DX receiver you are pairing it with.
