Description

This extender kit stretches a USB connection across a meeting room using ordinary structured cabling. It comes as two units: a local extender that plugs into the conferencing PC and a remote extender that plugs into the device at the table, joined by a single CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT7 run.

The link carries USB 2.0 at up to 480 Mbps over a run of up to 100 m (330 ft), which is well beyond what a passive USB cable manages. In Poly's own room builds it is the supported way to connect a GC8 touch controller on the table to a conferencing PC mounted behind the display or in a nearby rack.

Cabling is straightforward: the local extender's USB-B port goes to a USB-A port on the PC, the remote extender's USB-A port goes to the controller's USB-C connection, and the CAT cable runs between the two. Because it uses category cable rather than a proprietary link, the run can follow existing containment.
